Otto Has Hatched!

Today is the day! Otto the Octopus has officially hatched from his egg! Parents and babies around the globe now have a chance to get the wonderful octopus baby feeder for themselves! Just head on over to Otto’s Kickstarter quickly to get Otto at a 40% discount (just £15!) for the first 100 feeders sold.

From the initial idea forming, to the designing, to having one Otto made for my own babies, it has been a long journey in bringing Otto to life and available to many more babies. There have been ups and downs throughout the journey but if I had to do it all again, I would.

Otto the Octopus has been tried and tested and I am extremely happy with the results. I hope that all the people who purchase Otto for themselves will received the same amount of joy and happiness that my babies and family have experienced!

Thank you to everyone who has supported Otto throughout his conception to his arrival. This became a project of passion from the moment it started, and so from the bottom of my heart I am truly thankful.

Otto has been featured… Three times!

It has been a great few weeks for Otto the Octopus. An article we published about the healthy and nutritional foods that babies should be eating has been featured on both Textbook Mommy, Playbuzz and Medium!

It feels great that more parents are becoming informed about the importance of their babies eating a healthy diet and the nutritional values that different foods can provide. The article also looks at how Otto can be used to help get babies eating healthy food and recommends some different recipes (which can be found on my blog, below) that contain a multitude of different vitamins and nutrition.#gootto

Many more people are becoming aware of Otto the Octopus and the benefits he can provide to babies, as well as the importance of a balanced nutritional diet. And that’s fantastic!

Otto’s won an award!

Otto the Octopus has now officially been honoured with an award by the A’ Design Award and Competition at a gala event in Como, Italy!

Having my design praised is such a privilege and I feel very fortunate for Otto to be associated with such an esteemed organisation.

Otto started out as just a personal project as a result of the frustration I experienced when feeding my babies during their weaning phase. I designed multiple iterations to ensure that Otto was both safe and appealing to my babies until I finalised on the design. My little ones and my friend’s children ended up absolutely loving it. I knew I had made something special.

Fast-forwarding a little, I noticed the upcoming A’Design Awards competition and thought I would enter to see what others thought of the design of Otto. It turned out that others have a similar love for Otto as my children and I do.

I would like to say a big thank you to all the judges, voters and supporters of Otto through his journey, as well as all my friends and family who have stood by my side over the years.

Otto has since been nominated for the Prime Designer of the Year Award. Wish us both luck in the upcoming competition.

Otto The Octopus Cranberry Ice Smoothie:

This smoothie is perfect especially during baby’s teething days!

The ice will cool down and sooth the inflammation of baby’s gums. While the baby is chewing the spout, this will help the baby’s teeth to come out naturally

1 tbsp fresh cranberries.
20ml milk – any type of milk here is suitable, if there is a cows’ milk allergy you can use almond or soy or coconut milk.
1tbsp liquid glucose or maple syrup – Liquid glucose or maple syrup helps the formation of soft crystal to allow the ice smoothie to be soft enough for the baby’s gums.

Place all ingredients into the main chamber of the baby feeder and mash it with the mini masher. Screw on the top of the baby feeder the mashing cup to close it. Place the baby feeder into the freezer and allow to cool.

To serve it with fresh food feeder spout: before freezing place the fresh food feeder spout and push the mixture up, to fill the spout. Place into the freezer and allow to cool. Once frozen it is ready to be served.

To serve it as an ice-lolly: you do not need to place any spout just screw on the top of the baby feeder the mashing cup to seal it. Once it is frozen, unscrew the mashing cup and you can pop up the ice lolly and it is ready to be served!

How to make apple or pear mousse in 2 minutes!

How to make apple or pear mousse in 2 minutes!

This is a very simple, delicious recipe, suitable from the very first step of weaning, that every mum should keep as a secret! Gluten, dairy and nut free, this recipe is suitable from the very first step of weaning, a pleasure for all allergies sufferers!

Just simply peel and core 1 apple or 1 pear and place it in Otto’s main chamber

Cook in the microwave,  for 3 and ½ to 4 minutes, on high or until tender and let it cool!

Place the fresh food feeder spout and serve

There is no need to mash this food, because the babies will chew it themselves  through the spout, safely without the risk of chocking. They will naturally learn to chew and swallow food and learn, in no time, chewing food directly with confidence!

1) Adding 40 ml of formula milk or breast milk before cooling will give more nutrients

2) Vary the flavor of the sauce, by adding ½ teaspoon vanilla extract or a pinch of cinnamon or few lemon drops at your choice, it will enhance the taste. Giving our little one, the chance to explore and appreciate the goodness of fresh, natural ingredients since very early stage of weaning.

3) You can prepare this recipe in bigger quantities, into the baby feeder, mash it with the masher and store it in the freezer, in ice cube trays and later serve it with third stage feeder spout.

4)You can share this recipe with the whole family to accompany pancakes as healthy side sauce!
